Finn, at
Pieces From My Scrapbag wrote today about an exciting web event: the First Annual Bloggers Spring Quilt Festival. Participants are to post on our own blogs a photo of our favorite quilt, with brief comments, and then link back to the festival site at
Park City Girl Quilt Festival. This is Topkapi:
It's twin size, but would be a wild bed quilt. (It's hanging over our stairs.) The pattern is from Sarah Nephew's Serendipity book, which has guidelines for piecing with 60 degree triangles and diamonds, but gives lots of leeway to do your own thing. I had a blast with this. I worked about ten hours a day for ten days, "in the zone." Even my husband got into it -- he would say "Do you want me to get you a sandwich for lunch so you can keep working?" Since he's normally oblivious to what I do, I took this as a big thumbs up!

Wow, what a beautiful quilt! Very intricate. It reminds me of the illuminations on the ancient manuscripts. And how sweet of your hubby!

Stunning! I love the colors. Your husband is a sweetie :) Thanks for sharing.
A really lovely quilt- is it a variation of the One block wonder patterns? Or a variation of one of the stack and whack kaleidoscope patterns? Whatever design it is - it is a real beauty.
Thanks for sharing..
Regards,
Anna

What a beauty! You deserve all kinds of kudos for this one...it's just awesome...my hats off to you girl!!! Big hugs, Finn
I have been working my way through the quilt festival - months now - but it has been wonderful. I have a rule it might take years - 1. no reading the other parts of the blog, just the fesitival entry. I have been at your blog A LONG time as I have not followed my rule. Have researched Sarah Nephew's original book - just $159.95 .... have looked at her other books and will consider - I did a star quilt with diamonds and had great fun but your quilt is over the top. So good looking... ummmm.... I just love blues in quilts..... ummm.. yes, I know no blues in your quilt just all these other colors that make me think I might just be in a Wisconsin forest.....Thank You so much for showing this quilt. And telling the story. Rest that shoulder A LOT longer than your Dr. says, than you think or than you want !!!
